Rebecca McKenzie

AREAS OF PRACTICE
Rebecca graduated from the University of Newcastle in 2006 with a Bachelor of Laws and Diploma of Legal Practice. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts with a major study in Politics, which she completed in 2003, receiving a Certificate of Merit for Excellence from the School of Policy and invited to undertake an Honours year.
Rebecca was admitted to practise as a Solicitor in the Supreme Court of New South Wales in 2006. She is also entitled to appear before the High Court of Australia, having been entered in the Register of Practitioners on the High Court Roll.
Rebecca began her career with the Legal Aid Commission of NSW in Newcastle as a solicitor in their Family Law Department. Following that, she worked for a legal firm in Maitland in the areas of Family Law, Criminal Law and General Practice.
In 2008, Rebecca joined the team at Baker Love Lawyers gaining invaluable and superior legal training and mentorship under the guidance of the experienced Partners and rose to the level of Associate.
For several years Rebecca practiced in a range of areas, with a focus on Employment Law, Criminal Law, Family Law, Civil Litigation, Intellectual Property and Estate Planning. Rebecca then focused on the areas of Employment Law and Intellectual Property Law with a particular interest in Trade Mark applications and copyright matters.
Rebecca also holds a Graduate Certificate in Migration Law & Practice from the Australian National University in Canberra, having practised as a Registered Migration Agent for several years.
After starting her family, Rebecca decided to commence a new legal practice to better balance work and family life, and McKenzie Law Office was born.
She aims to successfully serve the local community and observe the highest standards of conduct and behaviour that the legal profession demands.

On a practical level, Rebecca has drafted and delivered seminar papers to various organisations such as charitiable organisations, nursing homes and other community groups in relation to the practical issues surrounding Elder Law, Estate Planning, Employment Law, Duty of Care & Civil Liability Act (Medical Negligence), Retail Leases and Immigration Law.
